Spatial Pattern and Intensity Mapping of Coseismic Landslides Triggered by the 2022 Luding Earthquake in China

چکیده

On 5 September 2022, an Mw 6.6 earthquake occurred in Luding County China, resulting extensive surface rupture and casualties. Sufficient study on distribution characteristics susceptibility regionalization of the earthquake-induced disasters (especially coseismic landslides) region has great significance to mitigation seismic hazards. In this study, a complete landslide inventory, including 6233 landslides with 32.4 km2 area, was present through multi-temporal satellite images. We explored controlling conditions induced by 2022 event from perspective epicentral distance. According maximum value area density, geographical location strongest activity intensity under influence energy, macro-epicenter, determined, we found remarkable relationship macro-epicentral distance, that is, both number density associatively decreased increase Then, fast effective method for zoning based obvious attenuation proposed, which could provide theoretical reference mapping earthquakes mountainous areas. Additionally, quantitatively assess impact topographic, seismogenic lithological factors spatial pattern landslides, relationships between occurrences influencing factors, i.e., elevation, slope angle, local relief, aspect, distance fault lithology, were examined. This provides fresh important guiding post-earthquake reconstruction land use disaster area.

Coseismic ionospheric disturbances triggered by the Chi‐Chi earthquake

[1] At 17:47 UT on 20 September 1999, a large earthquake of magnitude Mw 7.6 struck the central Taiwan near a small town of Chi‐Chi. The ground‐based receivers of the global positioning system (GPS) in the Taiwan area detected coseismic ionospheric disturbances (CIDs) in the total electron content (TEC) triggered by the Chi‐Chi earthquake. When the CIDs travel away from the origin on the Earth ...

Optimized volume models of earthquake-triggered landslides

In this study, we proposed three optimized models for calculating the total volume of landslides triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan, China Mw 7.9 earthquake. First, we calculated the volume of each deposit of 1,415 landslides triggered by the quake based on pre- and post-quake DEMs in 20 m resolution. The samples were used to fit the conventional landslide "volume-area" power law relationship and t...

Key factors influencing the mechanism of rapid and long runout landslides triggered by the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, China

Background: The 2008 Wenchuan earthquake triggered many rapid and long runout landslides, which directly caused great loss of property and human lives and were responsible for a large percentage of total damages caused by the earthquake. It is very important for the purposes of landslide disaster prevention and mitigation to understand the earthquake triggered mechanism of initiation and motion...

Landslides triggered by the Gorkha earthquake in the Langtang valley, volumes and initiation processes

The Gorkha earthquake (Nepal, 2015, Mw 7.9) triggered many landslides. The most catastrophic mass movement was a debris avalanche that buried several villages in the Langtang valley. In this study, questions are raised about its volume and initiation. I investigate the possibility of high-resolution digital surface models computed from tri-stereo SPOT6/7 images to resolve this issue. This high-...

Distribution Pattern of Landslides Triggered by the 2014 Ludian Earthquake of China: Implications for Regional Threshold Topography and the Seismogenic Fault Identification

The 3 August 2014 Ludian earthquake with a moment magnitude scale (Mw) of 6.1 induced widespread landslides in the Ludian County and its vicinity. This paper presents a preliminary analysis of the distribution patterns and characteristics of these co-seismic landslides. In total, 1826 landslides with a total area of 19.12 km2 triggered by the 3 August 2014 Ludian earthquake were visually interp...
